Our professional development matters because YOU matter to each and every student. Professional development is our chance to reflect on personal performance, look for solutions, and perfect our practices.  It is the best strategy teachers have to develop into the best teachers in every classroom.

Required Professional Development

60 hours of professional development is required for any certified employee with a 190-day contract or greater.  Beginning in July 2014, 36 hours of professional development is required by the ADE for license renewal.

The following professional development is required in 2017-2018:

2 hours Child Maltreatment/Mandatory Reporter Training.  
This PD will be provided by the district.  Click link for schedule: Training Schedule

Staff who miss their scheduled session should coordinate with their supervisor to attend a later session or be approved to make up the PD through the IDEAS portal.  
Schools will conduct annual policy review of: 

  • Smart Core
  • Anti-bullying/Sexual Harassment
  • Safety/Crisis/Intruder Plans
  • IT Security
  • PD plans

One-half of the 36 hours required for licensure (18 hours) must be directly related to one of more of the following: 

   (1) the teacher's content area
   (2) instructional strategies applicable to the teacher's content area, or
   (3) the teacher's identified need

Administrators:  Data Dissaggregation, Instructional Leadership, Fiscal Management

Professional Development will be provided as needed:

Cultural and Linguistic Diversity
How to teach students with Disabilities, including Autism
Test Security and Confidentiality Training

New Administrators:
New Administrators must obtain Evaluator Certification for TESS
New Administrator Training for TESS/LEADS
